Rainy Day Shoes
Sometimes it's nice to have one of those rainy days. Especially a lazy, rainy Sunday. The perfect excuse to relax and do nothing before starting the new week. It seems like we've had more than our fair share of rain here in Florida this past weekend. Not just rain, but a steady shower starting Friday and still going strong on Sunday with no break. Just because there is rain, doesn't mean you can spend the whole weekend being lazy. There are still people to see, errands to be run, groceries to be bought, and workouts to be done. Life doesn't stop for the rain!
Some friends of mine had planned a girls night out trip to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. Tickets were bought almost a month in advance so when the weekend weather report showed rain, there wasn't really anything that could be done but to go and enjoy it! A couple of friends weren't up to the rainy adventure, so I happened on to a ticket to join them. It turned out to be a great time despite the rain and chill. I never regret the time I choose to spend with my friends!
Whether you are having fun in the rain, running errands or just running; it is never fun to have wet shoes! I grew up playing soccer and traveling to tournaments. If you had a rainy game, your shoes wouldn't be dry for the next day's games. We did try putting them on the ac unit blower, but the smell wasn't pleasant and it really didn't help that much. Using the heat made them shrink and too tight. One easy trick that worked well was stuffing our shoes with newspaper. The paper would draw out the water and our shoes would be dry by morning. This is a great tip to keep in mind during these rainy days. My tennis shoes from last night are currently stuffed with newspaper and drying in the garage!
