The weather is turning colder and that means just one thing for the fashion conscious baby, Leggings! How cute are baby leggings! Just as fun as those cute tights, but so much easier to change diapers. Plus there are so many more options in leggings, especially when you make them yourself! Even little boys can get in on the action! So quick and easy, you can make a pair in less than ten minutes!
All you will need is a pair of knee socks! I used a pair of big girls knee socks, but you can use small girls knee socks or even adult crew socks for a newborn or adult knee socks for a toddler. My daughter was pretty skinny as a baby so I had to make tiny pairs to fit her skinny legs, but she can still wear them now as knee pads when she is crawling around.
Start by cutting your knee socks straight across, just above the heel. This top portion is the main part of your legging. Also cut out the middle part of the foot of the sock, discarding the toe and heel portion. This will become the bottom cuff.
Fold your cuff portion as shown. The bottom edge will be tucked into and up the tube so that it meets the top edge. The wrong sides will be touching. Does this make sense? Having a hard time explaining, so just ask if it doesn't.
Slide your leg portion into the middle of your cuff tube. You will now have the two halves of the cuff and the leg section all lined up together.
