Snickerdoodles in a Jar (Last Minute Gift)

Need that last minute gift for someone?  Maybe you just want to brighten someone's day!  I have that perfect thing to put together for them, and you might already have everything you need!

Everyone loves cookies!

I remember my Mom making snickerdoodles as a kid.  We would help roll them in the cinnamon and sugar and put them on the baking sheet.  So yummy!

I found this recipe for Snickerdoodles in a Jar!  I wanted to use a pint sized jar, so I made the recipe for 18 cookies.  That way I could recycle a pasta sauce jar, and I really didn't need that many cookies.

Snickerdoodles in a Jar

1-1/3 cups and 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
3/4 cup white sugar

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl with a whisk.  Pour into a pint sized jar.
Attach a Recipe card with the following:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. In a large bowl, cream 1/2 cup of butter and 1 egg. Pour in the snickerdoodle mix, and stir until a dough forms. In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls, roll the balls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. 3. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Cookies should be light brown. Cool on wire racks.

To decorate my jar, my daughter picked out some festive wrapping paper and we mod podged it onto the top of the lid.  We also added a dictionary entry for merriment on to the top.  We thought it was appropriate for the season.

If you don't have time to mod podge, you can always cut a piece of wrapping paper or fabric and tie it onto the lid.  Still cute and festive!
The perfect gift and it only took about 15 minutes!
