I DO Forks

I love personalized gifts and really anything you can make with metal stamps.  So of course I had to make another last minute gift for my friend the bride.  I've seen these I Do forks on Etsy and had to try and make my own.  I haven't seen any other tutorials or tips, so I just went for it.

I don't have any pictures of stamping the forks, but this is from my Wedding Date Necklace Charm.  It's the same basic idea.  The fork actually sat at a good angle when the handle was on the counter and the area I worked with was on my steel block.  It is much easier to stamp there than on the handle.  I've tried to stamp utensil handles with my kids' initials and the metal is so much harder that it is difficult to get a good strike.  It's impossible to do multiple strikes because it moves so much as well.  Maybe different utensils would work better.

After stamping the forks, I traced over the stamped area with a sharpie marker and quickly wiped away the excess with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel.  This helps it pop.  I've also seen on Pinterest that if you write on dishware with a sharpie and then bake it at 350 for 30 minutes that it becomes permanent.  I thought this idea could work on silverware as well.  I didn't want the sharpie to wear off or be eaten.  I placed them on a baking sheet and baked them along with my Wedding Toasting Flutes.  Be sure to let them cool because they will be hot!

They are now ready for the Bride and Groom's first bites as Mr. and Mrs!
Simple and beautiful!  Any bride would love this gift.
