Pilgrim Hat Cookies

My daughter's class is having their own Thanksgiving celebration with another class.  One class dresses like Pilgrims and the other class dresses like American Indians and they come together to feast.  Parents send in the typical Thanksgiving foods.  Lucky me, I was asked to bring in cookies!  How fun and easy to be creative with.  I decided I wanted to skip the boring cookies and go with the theme.  Pilgrim Hat Cookies!

These are so easy to make and so quick too.  All you need are flat chocolate cookies.  I used the bottom of the Keebler Fudge Stripes as my hat brim.  You can use Rolo's or small peanut butter cups.  I went with Rolo's because they are yummy but also because there are so many peanut allergies to worry about.  You will also need frosting.

Put your frosting into a bag with a small round tip.  If you don't have a tip, you can always use a plastic baggie and clip off a tiny corner to pipe your frosting through.  Place a ring of frosting on your cookie.  The ring should be about the same size as your candy.  When you place the candy on top of your frosting, it should squeeze out the sides, creating the band around your hat.  If you choose to you can add a little square buckle detail to your hat.  That's all there is to it.

I know the kids are going to have a great time at their Thanksgiving feast.  I hope they enjoy their Pilgrim Hat Cookies too!
